    Mitsubishi i

Mitsubishi has recently introduced the i in the UK. It's a small city car powered by a mid-mounted 660cc engine with 64bhp.

What do you think about it?

I personally like it. It's a bit like a clever Smart. Make it LHD, fit a manual gearbox and bring it over here.

So it's LHD in Spain huh?

That's cool, that means I won't get run over accidentally over there.

It looks familiar. It's been introduced before, it's just that it's the first time it's going to England right?

    Edit-

It can actually be a Smart car because doesn't Mercedes own Mitsubishi? So a little platform sharing or two (or engine sharing maybe, since it's a 3 cylinder like the Smart right?)

Talking about Mercedes, did they sell Chrysler yet? And to whom?

Yes continental Europe is LHD. (It's just brits that drive on the wrong side)

And I believe this was first introduced in Japan, but it's one of the few K-cars to be sold outside Japan (unfortunately in my opinion).

It's not based in the Smart AFAIK and nor the engine is the same.

And yes Daimler Benz has sold Chrysler to Cerberus, whatever that is.

RHD is ok too though, you get to keep your good hand on the wheel and your off hand on the shifter, where less precision is needed (if you are a righty - if you are a lefty, go praise satan you freak).

I saw it at the London Motorshow last year.

A brilliant concept, but, as per usual, it is hugely overpriced.

A Panda is £7000 (still too much) and is probably a more sensible purchase.

Well you get the posher versions so that might explain, partly, the high price. It's not cheap as you say, but if that encourages other manufacturers to imporve the formula I welcome it.

Excuse me for bringing quite a geek comment here but, this thing I believe was in Gran Turismo 4, and had only one gear. In fact, you would accelerate and the engine would rev to 6,000 rpm and... stay there. Does anyone know why it was featured like that, and what gearbox it will use?

EDIT: 4-speed automatic gearbox. Links ftw.
    Reginald *IB4R* says:
it was a beautiful 35 seconds.

    that's what she said

1 gear thing in GT4 (IIRC the Mitsubishi Colt and the Nissan Micra also had it) was because they had CVTs.

    Well, not really.

It just allows other manufacturers continued justification of their own high prices.

Companies deliberately leave the £5,000 entry-level cars from the UK ranges so that people think £10,000 for entry-level cars is a bargain, and no one is willing to upset that trend.

They don't call it "Rip-off Britain" for nothing.

In China you can get on a 270mph train for £4.

In Britain you get on a 4mph train for £270.

    Oh, I see.

Does the Honda Fit/Jazz count as a K-Car or is it still too big to be one?

What the hell is Cerberus? Sounds like a three headed dog.

Well, now that Chrysler is on its own, good luck with the next generation of its RWD cars.

Not it's too big. And the engine is too large.

    That might help you.
