Any help would be greatly appreciated.

With his cocoa leaves and pearls
You could try Acquisition, a couple of my friends use it and really like it.

It's one of the few P2P programs that works for Macs that I know of (I assume you use a Mac if you're using limewire), but I also know absolutely nothing about computers

Torrent for songs? Hmm, that seems like too much trouble.
Try out Bear Share Lite.
Torrents threw me a bit at first as well, but it's quite simple.
Essentially how it works, you download a torrent file (tracker) which opens up in your torrent program (bittorrent etc.) and the file pieces together, and downloads your music/video/whatever from other users. So here's how to get started, first I recommend Bitcomet:
http://www.bitcomet.com/doc/download.htm Get the BitComet 0.90 release.
Once you've downloaded and installed that program, all you need to do is search for torrents of what you'd like to download. Here are some good torrent search sites:
http://isohunt.com/
http://www.torrentspy.com/
http://bittorrentfind.com/ This last one is a meta torrent search, it'll bring up results from numerous different sites each in its own frame.
So if you want, say, Britney Spears' latest, just search for it in any said site and you'll be presented with search results. Just download the torrent file (I save all mine to a folder called 'Torrents') and then open the file, it'll open in BitComet and you'll be prompted where to save your download. Choose your music/video folder, and just wait as it downloads.
Last bit, about the seeders, leechers, strength thing. Seeders refers to the amount of people sharing full files. Leechers are active downloaders. You'll want to find files with higher strength, usually represented by coloured bars etc. This generally means, the more seeders, the better. Pick that torrent file.
Hopefully this helps, PM me if you want more info. Or perhaps you've figured it out by now, and this is all nullified. Anywho, there you go.
p.s. Some of the torrent site ads are decidedly "not work safe" so be warned, hah.

Indeed, torrents FTW!
Why would you watch music videos in your car? I hope you don't plan to be one of those assholes who's looking at something that's not the road while driving; if you are, shoot yourself in the face right now. Assuming that you aren't, there are better things to do with a truck.
