I heard a rumor that MG was to begin sales in the USA again, putting a ford motor in most of thier cars for the emissions, is this true?

I've heard nothing about it, do you know where you heard it from.
It's not likely though, MG have enough problems staying open, let alone expanding markets.

The V8 ZT saloon/ tourer and X-power SV both use the Ford 4.6 V8 already, so I assume it would not be too difficult to ship them over.
I can imagine that the SV would sell well if the price was right, which it isn't.
They really shouldn't have gone for carbon fibre, I don't know what they were thinking
I'm not too sure how the American market would react to the CityRover
Thanks for all the fish
Or, they can build them here in the U.S. some Honda does, some Toyota does and the list goes on...Originally Posted by Coventrysucks

To build a new factory would need big money - money that MGR don't have.Originally Posted by byronleehk

Those would be the only models they could import as the rest of the MGRover range are direct compeitiors with Ford.
I think that they couldn't justify building a factory in the US to produce two cars, one very specialist in its construction.
Thanks for all the fish
There's a really good article about the decline of MG Rover in this month's (June) CAR magazine, Whilst still failing to make profit, they have halved the losses every year for the last three years since regaining control from under BMW.
I'm hardly a Rover fan, but I do feel a patriotic duty to want to see them survive, I'm not confident it's going to happen. I think the cityrover was pretty much the last straw.
