I'd say the A3. On the level of product quality they are about the same. Powerplants too. I can't judge on the handling since I have never driven a A3 yet. Then only design is left. IMO the A3 looks much better, less conservative, so that would be my personal winner.

If you're a fool to buy one new, then the Golf wins. I'd rather buy a used A3, because it's going to cling onto it's value much better than a Golf. It looks better, too. Love the interiors...

In my country we only get the 1.6FSi & GTi, as for A3 we only get 2.0T and 3.2 V6.

I don't like the interior of the Golf, I only liked the exterior of the Golf GTi.

Golf GTI for me, scores better in the looks department to be honest.

No- the R32 shares the engine with the A3 3.2 V6 and the S3 has a 2.0 turbocharged engine producing 265bhp- one reason I'd happily have an A3 over some boring Golf.

We get all sorts of engines including 1.9 and 2-litre diesels, 1.4-litre turbo and supercharged, 1.8 turbocharged engines. The lot.
