Bringing Excess to Soaring New Heights...Literally

A private Airbus A380? There is no need for one man to own a plane this big for just himself and his family.

Prince Alwaleed bin Talal is paying $320 million for the plane and who knows how much to customize it. All I know is I hope pictures are leaked eventually because I bet it will be extravagent. He already the only private owner of a 747.

There are a lot of things we don't need. We have them anyway.

We could live without cars, money, technology, etc. The list goes on.

A living, breathing organism needs even less things. Food and water.

i live even without those 320 millions, and i don't need such an airplane (give me a Tomcat instead...), but i would like to have even the possibility to own an airplane. at that point, i would need a bigger garage...and it would not be for airplane but for hundreds of cars.

With a 380 you coudl carry your favourite dozen cars with you all the time.
PIckign the car to match the best roads wherever you landed sounds fantastic

An A380 landed in Montréal yesterday, saw that on TV... it's so incredibly big it's almost frightening. The other planes next to it looked like plastic toys. I can't even picture myself owning one, even in my wildest dreams!

The idea of carrying your favorite cars around the world sounds indeed very interesting!

oh fellow, i didn't think about this possibility, thanks for the advice!
i was worried to park one of my zondas in a garage near the Ring, because i couldn't drive them anymore every day...
so, buy as much supercars as you like, and then buy an Airbus to carry them with you all around the world !!!!!

Except that the plane can only land at a few airports worldwide because it is so friggin huge.

It can land and take-off fine - in fact QUIETER than anything else

It's the handling of it, parking at terminals, disembarking 800 people that limit it.

If, however, it's only YOU travelling then sod that, a corner of the airfield and unload the Roller to get you to customs/passport

Private flying is SO much better and less hassle!!!!!

I think it's actually quite good - we'll see what the A380's interior is truly capable of, without the constraints of having to carry eleven billion passengers, there luggage, etc......

Considering other members of the Saudi Royal family bought 767's for each of their children, this is no surprise.
