    1997 Aston DB7

Hey guys, there is a little used car dealership in my town that has a 1997 DB7 convertable going for $33,000 CAD. I went to look at the car today and the only thigns I could see wrong were a couple rusty screws on the grille and a small chip in the windshield. I looked underneath the car and didn't see any rust and there did not appear to be any repair work done. My dad has sent the place an email asking for a meeting time to talk about the car. Does this seem a bit too good to be true to any of you? Is there anything we should be looking out for?

    Thanks for any help everyone

Here is the link to the car

Do a background check on it for sure, get the VIN and track it on CarFax or take it to an insurance place.

Prices like these are usually related to flood damage, but "drives like new" not so much.

Did you take it for a spin first to see how it goes?

Might be a bit suspicious, but who knows, might be a good deal as well.

50k is nothing for that car.
BUT, watch out it's probably due a cam belt replacement ... whcih given it's an Aston coudl hurt the wallet. Ask if they've been replaced and what the interval is -- it has a milage AND a time component,

well it's an aston, so given the amount of time it would have spent in a workshop it could be quite an achievement reaching 50k miles in only 10 years

That has the worst of Aston and Jag reliability combined, so clutch is correct

Since the advent of the DB9 and AMV8 the brand awareness has gone up, but as a result those who would have held the cars longer in the past are updating quicker leading to a depression of the DB7 prices as traded in DB9s are entering the market.

Even though it seems like a good deal, I'm willing to bet it's got a "healthy" supply of mechanical problems just waiting.

Its not the mechanical issues to worry about - the car is rather good in that regard, though not as well developed as the later Vantages, GTs and GTAs - the bigger worry is electrical.

My father had one just like that one and it is a cool car, but it as in the shop every couple of weeks and parts and labor to fix it were very expensive.
