Corvette comes out victorious!
Although I'm a little sad because the viper was one of the most bad-ass cars out there.
"Don't have phone sex, you could get hearing AIDS"
I've never driven a Viper and I've only driven a Corvette once, but it seems to me that the Vette is a true GT car that is as capable on the commute to work as it is on the track, while the Viper is a pure sports car and a beast and most customers prefer the GT. I also wonder how much pedigree has to do with that? Finally, when the Viper first came out it was FAST, it's still fast, but we have E-class Mercedes that cost about the same with 500+ hp so the Viper's 510hp (I understand going up to 600hp for '08) really isn't that impressive.
My suggestion would be to use the V8 out of the STR/8 cars and reduce the price. OR use the V10 in a more high-end STR/10 cars (ie Chrysler 300 STR/10).
Its a shame to see it go, but I understand why. Maybe a newer halo car will be a Demon-type vehicle that is a little more expensive and a little more powerful than the concept showed.
always loved vipers.
Gone:
09 Ducati Monster 696
09 Audi Q5 3.2
03 Infiniti G35 Sedan
07 Honda Civic Coupe LX 5spd
Current:
10 BMW 335d
12 Audi Q5 2.0t
10 VW Jetta TDI
11 Ducati Monster 796
Awww this makes me sad. This is the Shelby 427's heir, and I think it will be a while, if ever, that a company makes a full fledged vehicle-styled thing that is as demonically brutal as the Viper. It shall be missed.

Considering Chrysler's problem it makes sense.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
Visca Catalunya!
Well, sh*t I was planning on getting the 2012 model when it came out . lol.
That really is sad though. I have a soft spot in my heart for the devil on four wheels and will miss reading about the latest and greatest in future car mags. Funny to think that the ones from the past will still be putting future sports cars from other makes to shame for many a year to come.
It's only a rumor. I'll believe it when i see it.

so i had to dump acid into the block tank today
i'm afraid to fap
cause i got it on my hands
the Viper was a great car
i can see where they're coming from with this, but it is quite an icon for the US shame if it's true
Andreas Preuninger, Manager of Porsche High Performance Cars: "Grandmas can use paddles. They aren't challenging."
Its already been mentioned in this thread but ill beleive it when i see it.
Lifts heavy things and hits hard......also eats as much as 2/3 people and sleeps 10 hours a day!
A little sad if it's true... it was kinda the redeeming car in for American super cars... now all we have to look forward to are corvettes and crazy tuned Saleens...
I love how these idiots forget to mention this.
Someone point out in this statement where Chrysler says the Viper is dead. What happens after 2011? That's a question we don't yet have an answer for.
Because all I see is a Maybe, Maybe not.
Read the articles folks, and stop looking at the titles. This statement does not mean the Viper is dead. If the Viper was really dead, do you honestly think they would tell the press they don't have an answer?
How can you report the Viper is dead after 2011, and then say, we don't know what will happen after 2011?
