I'd trade the handling for better ride any day. Having had the '00 and SVT Foci, handling just doesn't do anything for me that I wouldn't trade for a nicer time on potholes and expansion joints.

Other than that, looks like a nice car. Love those acceleration figures, and the low revs on the highway must be nice too.

I think the main grill is too tall and makes the front look a little goofy, but hopefully it will get a good reception. It should hopefully give an indication as to how the Camaro might drive as well.

If they've kept the same suspension that Holden fit to the Commodore it'll be fine. Aussie road's are shite.

I knew the grill was going to be bad, but you just can't prepare yourself...I will never understand the American stylist's habit of making their cars look like Taiwanese Hotwheels knockoffs.

too bad its so damn ugly.
and for a 6l V8 with 360hp... its not THAT impressive.

In comparison the lancer evoX has a tiny 2l I4 with 290hp and is quicker, consumes less and looks a whole lot better for about the same price.

so yeah, id keep my money and wait for the evo.

An EVO is probably 2-300kg lighter, has 4WD, and a much shorter ratio gearbox. And I don't know about the prices where you are, but an EVO X will be at least $20,000AUD more expensive than the SS (the Holden the G8 is based off.) Completely different cars for different people with completely different driving needs.

G8 tested by MT at 32kUSD, evo X tested by R&T at 33k USD.

Of course they are different cars. But are both sporty sedans in the same preice range. All I'm saying is, the evo does evrything the G8 tries to do, but better and more efficiently.

not sure why that always gets brough up. it doesn't matter how the power gets made, all that matters is that its there.

the g8 isn't meant to compete with the evo, the evo is a kids car. its made to compete with the 300c and other midsize sedans.

I don't think that necessarily right. As 2ndCC said is all a matter of preference.

I personally prefer the V8 soundtrack and RWD antics to to the turbocharged 4WD madness.

hp/l is elementary math, its useless for showing what is "impressive".

Actually the EVO is not any quicker:
2008 Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution - Feature / The Quickest Sedans of 2008: $30,000 to $40,000 - Feature / Quickest Cars: 0-60 MPH / Car Shopping / Hot Lists / Reviews / Car and Driver - Car And Driver
Its also probably one of the ugliest production cars on the market right now as well, it looks like a pug dog with wheels.

The Evo is faster to 60 using the source you posted, and the same in the 1/4 mile. Making it, on average, quicker.

If you drive the Evo like C&D did, you'll quickly find yourself at a dealer and without a warranty. They've said time and time again they abuse AWD cars on launches to get good times.
