Alot of rust - Oh dear. Stuck on what to do now... full nut and bolt rebuild or sell it and buy a 2.8 Injection which is a better base car... Aargh.

Full rebuild it is - If everything goes well tonight on eBay then I will be getting new panels... which will make the car look like this -
It's called an X-Pack kit... new front and rear panels, and a front splitter. Tasty.
Got some 16" Escort Cosworth wheels too... Not fitted them yet, I'm unsure how they will look to be honest!
And a new CD player will be purchased and fitted tomorrow, full Alpine system.
It's costing alot but god it's worth it. I'll post a scary rewiring picture tomorrow
niice, I wouldn't mind an actual mk2 Escort actually.

Mk2 Escorts are lovely... Bloomin expensive though.. ClassicFord mag had a shell for sale.. bare shell... 3 grand. Expensive but damn they look good.
20 Mins on the auction and the body panels should be all mine, I'm winning and a have a good lot left before my max bid is reached. Plus, Half 11 to finish an auction on a Sunday night is bad for most people so I have a good advantage and will hopefully win it.
Good thing is they are Fiberglass too - non-rustyness!
Woohoo - 5 genuine X-Pack panels for £150 - fantastic
cool!
those panels will look great on your car adam!
So now you are facing a full paint job?
What color are you considering if so?
Full paint job indeed - It's going to be either the red in the car above or maybe a blue of some sort... Or grey... or black... possibly white... i dont know. Any recommendations anyone? I really am open to anything as long as it isnt pink or purple!
Probably red though.
Front bumper is off - Been at it for 4 hours and sanded only the top of it back to metal - full sand, prime and paint on its way.. hopefully finished soon. Taking this weekend off work to go get the panels, fit the exhaust and the audio fitted (which I'm just about to go pick up).
black with yellow bonnet like Walter Rohrls 72 car
OR how about the full on works Rothmans colours
"A woman without curves is like a road without bends, you might get to your destination quicker but the ride is boring as hell'
We'll see. Coming up your way Peter next weekend to pick up the panels - Somewhere in Fifeland - if I see you about i'll give you a wave !
God it's been an expensive day!
Bloody Halfords gave me the wrong adapter for it - Not happy. Back in tomorrow for a replacement and then we "should" be good to go. Wont speak too soon though.
Took the front bumper off ...
Had a struggle with the rear.. got so agitated with it i grinded it off... somehow looks really good if the back end was all smoothed out... it's an aveue of thought. Although i'm thinking a car with no rear bumper but a front one would look odd... Obviously would have the brackets removed and the holes fillered in and the whole lot smoothed out.. Ive seen it done before and damn it looked good...thoughts?
Started to sand the front bumper down - long and laborious process but I want to get it perfect.
Going to take me the rest of the weeknights to get the front and rear end bupers sanded down... and picking up new panels on saturday, and hope to get the exhaust fitted this week too. Good fun !
Three thousand .. pounds!!
Lordy, at those prices (and current exchange rates) quick lets set up an import/export business
eBay Motors Australia
How about white with twin blue/black stripes over the centre of the car and along the bottom of the doors, RS style?

what engine does this have again?
with those panels it's going to look mint
Andreas Preuninger, Manager of Porsche High Performance Cars: "Grandmas can use paddles. They aren't challenging."
Picked up the panels a few days ago (Saturday night) - done a quick mock up on Sunday morning to see what they would look like.
God it's wide. Alot wider than I expected.
Now at the point of thought - MOT it and run it for a year - or get a cheap runaround and throw lots of cash at this and get it perfcet...I dont know .. My reasoning is, a 2.8 Injection would be a perfect base car for all this... that has power steering (mine dosent), runs on unleaded (this runs 4 star.. nightmare), better engine (this is a 1.6) the list is endless. If I got this decent I could sell it on for near enough the price of a poor 2.8 Injection, but by then I'll have got more money together and could buy overall, a much better car. Decisions decisions..
I'll just stick up this picture for now... I'm knackered! Think I might tackle the electrics tomorrow, either that or crack out the Burton power catolougue and spend a small fortune..
