If he's in Idaho, he's probably dealing with miles. So if you're measuring Km's, you're looking at a little over 300,000 k's.

If it's had a rebuild recently, it'd be a better deal for sure...
Places in Idaho are pretty far apart, so cars tend to get a lot of highway miles.

There's still that 1979 300CD for $2400...but if the A/C hasn't been overhauled yet, it's going to be spendy to change it.

I think you're too young to realize what that many kilometers means. I personally don't even bother with cars over 150,000 km. That's the kind of car where things are constantly breaking and it'll be a matter of months before you pay more in repairs than what you paid for the car. Seriously, you can whipe your ass with a $2000 car. W/e though, you'll learn soon enough you get what you pay for.

You're probably best off getting a complete piece of crap for like $1000 and driving that for a year while saving up money if you're working. Trying to get a kewl car for 2-3 thousand isn't even worth it really, especially when keeping in mind repair costs. Hell, my Bonneville was free and I ended up having about 2k worth of repairs and such.

Yeah I didn't express myself well. I knew it was in miles, but my point was 190,000 is a lot of kilometers as well - never mind miles.

    The Legacy Turbo sold.

I'm sorry for being a pain in the ass about all this, but I wanted other peoples' opinions on possible choices...

You've sought opinion for the past year about this. Just make a decision.

If the Merc is a good deal buy it - those vintage mercs are always good when looked after.

I do, but a bunch of sh*t has gone on in my house that has prevented me from even looking at damn cars for a while (my sister did a lot of bad things that I don't wish to talk about). Most of the sh*t is over with, so now my parents are more willing to look at cars...

I'm terribly sorry for dragging this on so far, but it's not entirely my fault.
I've just been waiting for so long to get a damn car, and it's been a bad summer.

If you got the money, you don't need your parents to get a car.
