    New Camaro official!

OFFICIAL 2010 CAMARO STATS & SPECS released! 300hp / 422hp! - GM Inside News Forum

I am a huuuge camaro and i think it'll be a great car but for some reason im not that impressed. I like the 422 horsepower. I even like the 400hp (even though the gto already had that) i even like the v6 that has the same hp as a mustang gt v8 but i am somewhat perplexed. Im happy with the power but its pretty much standard stuff.

26mpg with the v6? Give me a break a g8 gt gets that with the v8 and its a sedan. The gto also got better mileage than that.

23mpg with the v8? Thats crazy i get 27-29 mpg in my camaro and its a 2002. I would assume that technology has progressed somewhat since then. Hell, a viper gets 24mpg! and a damn silverado gets 22mpg and thats with a 4speed transmission...o yeah and its a frickin truck!

Im hoping these are just really really conservative estimates and once they release the real numbers i will be more impressed...

Im sure ya'll know im quite the camaro fanboy considering I've owned two in my life so far. But ill call a spade a spade and just come out and say it. If you had asked me a week ago what i would do if i had the money I would have said, "im gonna wait for the new camaro to come out" Now im saying, "Id rather just buy a low mileage gto for 20 grand instead of a new camaro for 30"

    Thats my take, whats yours?

If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.

The 5th Gen Camaro is like 3,700 pounds - how heavy is your 4th gen one?

That may have something to do with the lower mileage.

I think its around 3,500 pounds. and remember the new ones have displacement on demand, mine doesn't.

The best thing about this car is that it is coming to Europe. The worse thing about this car is that nobody will buy it.

3869. Its nearly a two-ton car. With a V6. Is it just a boat or did they make the frame out of lead?

It weighs something like 200lb more than the 3000gt everyone complained was too heavy. At least that car had an all-wheel drive system and a hundred needless technological gadgets for an excuse.

They are big. Very big. VE Commodores are deceptively large. And making the out of lead is quite close. They used some new method to build the chassis rails that makes them a lot stronger.

The gauges on the dash board are disgusting.

I don't know if the M6 version of the SS has a significant weight difference but the model everyone has been talking about it weighs 150 kg more than the m3. 331 pounds makes a difference. Oh, and that's the sedan's weight by the way, so at least you get more room for your weight.

Also to consider, the M3 is a like a luxury sports coupe/sedan, while the Camaro is a sportscar... or is it a sports/muscle car?

The Camaro and Mustang for that matter will always be muscle cars first, "sports cars" a distant second IMO.
