2007 civic believe it or not has a hinged. G35 has suspended. i guess heel and toe driving hinged is better since all performance cars and race have them but suspended seems to be more comfortable.
suspended seems to be more for un electric throttle where hinged can be more electric. drive by wire.

Both our TSX and Pathfinder are hinged at the bottom, never driven a suspended. I think the numbers are closer on the number of cars with either style.
I don't think I've driven a (road) car that does not have it suspended(or rather, hinged on the top). For Drive by Wire either way will work since you either use a linear or rotary potentiometer to transmit how much travel you are using. From a design standpoint I think a suspended one on a road car packaging might be easier to run a throttle cable as the pickup for the cable would have more places to go then a floor hinge pedal. But with majority of cars now are on throttle by wire I think thats no longer an issue....

All the cars that I drive are suspended I believe. So it's alright I guess. Suspended for now, because I can't really compare them.
its also easier to drive hinged barefoot cause u can rest ur foot on it, ur whole foot. suspended you more use your toe

I don't care.
As long as you can feel the pedal. A lot of newer cars have no feel from the accelerator at all.
i drove a car that had a suspended and hinged pedal! it was a 2007 Chevrolet Impala LTZ. i was confused because i know both types but this was strange, i was using it as a hinged pedal then i realized that it was also suspended. it was very comfortable yet kind of strange. def not a pedal for heel and toe, thats for sure. you used it as a suspended type but it had a hinge for comfort. my parents said our old 1988 Chevrolet Caprice Classic LS Brougham (amazing car) had a similar type design, maybe its a Chevy thing? not sure but the Impala is a nice ride, very comfy and smooth. obviously it doens't handle well, its slow and does not have a nice engine note.
i hate cars taht have very little throttle feel, the civic is that way. very light throttle so its easy to over rev, its not comfy at all
