    Snow Tires?? Help!!

    Hi guys,

Need some advice on snow tires, as I have never bought any before.

Which brands have the best reputation?

Also, how much should I be paying?

    Thanks in advance!

depends, I use Michelins for summer and winter tyres. Just buy 4 cheap rims shod with tyres and they will take you through three winters at least. Conditions in Holland are normally not severe.

There are a number of tire reviews on the internet so google would be a good place to start. Here is one to get you started:

Snow Tire Reviews, Best Winter Tires, Snow Tires

You can spend as much or as little as you want. Have read good things about the Blizzaks but at ~$135 USD they are at the higher end of the price range. A co-worker has some Generals and likes them well and they are at the lower end of the price range ~$65 USD. Plus they are studdable if ice is more of a concern than snow (though you need to check local laws on using studded tires).

And as already stated consider getting a cheap set of spare wheels to have them installed on so you can put them on the car at your own convenience.

Even more so with normal tyre reviews then ONLY consider reviews of tyres used and sold in the area of interest.
There are different winter tyre compounds and tread patterns on whether it's for snow, or snow and ice, or regular deep snow etc etc etc. SO stick to UK reviews.

What car are you taking about, as that makes a difference too.
Check camskil and blackcircle for UK buyer review/recommendations.
Also BEST advice will be found in a owners club forum for the vehicle you have

It snows enough in the UK to need snow tires? I live in upstate NY just north of the snow belt and I run all season tires year round.
