I always considered the Peugeot 106 a good car to drive

I despise the car too, it may well handle like a go-kart but that gearbox! Good god, and the 1/2inch of throttle travel, useless Peugeot handbrake and the fact that all 3 pedals can be pressed with one foot

Well the Alfa's back on the road after being stationary for about a month. It has new discs and pads all-round aswell as new calipers on the back. 12 months MOT and 6 months road fund tax have also been added so its now ready to sell. BUT.........And its a big but. I had forgotten in this short period of time, after having driven round in a few cars and vans this past month, just how good it makes me feel everytime I sit in it and start it up. Add to the fact that when I take it somewhere and park it up I keep turning back to look at it until it is completely out of sight and I can no longer keep it in view. This is going to be a very difficult divorce.

Money, I'd guess.
"Kimi, can you improve on your [race] finish?"
"No. My Finnish is fine; I am from Finland. Do you have any water?"
Money is a major issue, but at the end of the day apart from my girlfriend and my close friends nothing else in my life makes me as happy as my car does. This is exactly why I have forked out so much cash on it. I know that during the whole 'Credit Crunch' and the inevitable recession, that spending a rather large portion of my yearly wage on something that most people would see as an unnecessary item does seem perhaps excessive. But that is why I proudly can say to people that I am a petrolhead and what price can you put on happiness.

Divorcing an Alfa... now that's what no man should be obliged to do! And th 156/159 is sooooo gorgeous, the engine rushes your heart...
Well, in economy's sake, maybe the better would be a Vauxhall Corsa. The 1.0 12v is insanely cheap and economical, it doesn't give you constant headaches with mechanical/electronic problemas and I'm pretty sure you could fit in it. The only thing I don't like about it is the accelerator stroke. While in mine you have a response as soon as you touch the pedal with the tip of your toe, this one has a 1-2cm dead gap that you push and nothing happens. I've driven one for some time and I couldn't get used to that gap. Other than that, it's not that pile of fun a Mini (the classic, of course!) or a 2CV would be but it will take you cheaply from A to B.
