    Alfa isn't what?

    Red, 1,6 and FWD?

These two cars are worlds apart. There is nothing to compare.

actually, I see many of those Hyundai Coupe with poor paint. I suppose it could be due to not very careful owners. the rims were loosing the silver paint too btw.

If this is in good conditions, I would go for it, but just because it sounds cheap. the styling is...decent, it should be mechanically reliable too, so, I suppose it's up to your tastes and your wallet.
But I would buy a compact car in place of this, this is just a wannabe sport car, it's not "honest".

Not any more than a Fiat Coupé or a Renault Megane Coupé...

From most reports, when they were new, they were no worse than It's european contemporaries, such as the Megane Coupe.....

If it's meant to be cheap, durable transport why not get something you won't feel bad about abusing?

    Irrelevant.

Every cheap wannabe sportscar - no matter how humble its origins or capabilities may be - must have style.

If it does not have style, then at least some kind of image, e.g. Toyota Celica has a rallying heritage.

Last night I was offrered a FREE 1997 Peugeot 306 2.0 Convertible in dark green. Problem is that it needs about £1500 worth of work doing to it to make it road worthy again, so its another possibility.

Then it isn't really free. It costs £1,500...

The Hyundai looks like a better deal economically. And I'd say the Peugeot is not worth the hassle.

I thought you were after a cheap, no nonsense machine?

Probably there is a very good reason for this "free" offer. For certain it's going to cost more than £1,500 to make it road worthy. And water tight!

Ferrer is absolutely right by saying it's not worth the hassle.

If you don't like French cars and you need to invest £1500 in it, I dont know if it's your best bet.
What insurance class is it in btw?
