    Racing Future of Porsche

Looks mighty grim. Porsche has released its new 997.5 GT3 RSR. Rumour has it that for 2010 regulations porsche is developing a new LMP1 car. It's only logical given their withdrawl and the end of the diesel error (era sorry). Currently they are involved in DP racing (scoring a win at daytona) Porsche is supposedly developing a new GT1 car to be released in 2010-2012 which could coincide with the release of new regulations. Any other information you folks may share?

Potentially new GT1 and LMP1 cars from Porsche, while currently they have been on a pretty good LMP2 spree (at least, with their Penske team in America).....what is grim about this?

If they're making new LMP1 and GT! contenders, I'd imagine they'd want to race them somewhere.. ALMS and LMS seem like good contenders to me. I don't see anything grim about it, as long as they don't kill the GT3 RSR.

As Pimento said, that does not seem like it will stick if they are producing some new racing cars based on the LM-family of racing's rules. I am, if anything, hopeful. Considering the RS Spyder and the potential move to LMP1, I can hardly feel that a year hiatus of LM Porsche racing is such a bad thing (not preferable, but what can you do).

are you a representative of porsche racing, or porsche in general?

if no, than i think the 'we' is a bit presumptive.

I think they are reworking the RS Spyder for a LMP1 car. Considering the new LMP1 are basically moving down to current LMP2's powertrain sizes. Seems natural to try to develop a car in that vein....

I think that Porsche is currently in a poisition that they are not interested in entering motorsport if they can't win.

And as result they don't race anymore (as a facotry effort that is).

The problem is that Porsche was caught off-guard by the F430, and for some reason they cannot bring an all around good package to the races.

The one area where the Porsches still dominate is in the wet (see Spa 24 Hours result)

Porsche is in racing to sell cars. Nobody can / wants to afford an RS Spyder right now, so they won't be raced.

I dunno about you, but I'd love to be in a position to afford an RS Spider.. I wouldn't buy one, but it'd be nice.

Yes well, I was speaking of the works team. The 911s also race, but always in private hands (or semi private at least).

They have probably got too much to lose against the diesels now...

When were the RS Spyders campaigned by a Porsche Works team?
