How about a comparo? Was at Sebring yesterday and a guy with a brand-new 997 thought it would be cool to park our cars together.

One of Jurgen Barth's cars, and a nicely prepped 911 on track:

Did you by any chance see a group of 911's with a datsun 240z?

The weather was awful, so some guys didn't run Friday or Saturday as the schedules were juggled around. Rained constantly so taking photos was tough... some of the pros I talked to were really bummed. I saw just a few English cars, and only a couple of Datsuns, both 510 BRE replicas. If there was a Z car I missed it.

Ah, bummer. A datsun and a bunch of porsches went down there from my shop.

Thanks... sorry about the dirt, muddy roads were a problem. And I didn't bring a stinkin' detail kit!
Seriously, as the weather cleared late in the day I did clean the car up nicely, but Kevin had taken leave with that fierce GT3.
The photos were taken in the morning during a brief break from the rain. That side shot shows how big his brakes are, about the size of my wheels! We also joked about relative values: Adjusted for inflation my '67 cost the equivalent of $46,000 today, and his is $130K+
Even with all that carbon fiber, the GT3 weighs 900lbs more, and with twice the horsepower is only 2 seconds quicker to 60.
It'll out-perform an early car in every way. But which provides more pure, inimitable Porsche sensations?
The consensus is the early car wins.

The yellow one is a 2.5S, now owned by Roy Walzer. Are you sure about the silver one being a 911R? It lacks the central fuel filler, and from what I can see from the rear lights, the three little lamps are not there. The door handle is also a give-away, but that's unclear in the picture.
