    Radar and laser detectors

Right now I just have a cheap walmart detector that works pretty well.
I have lost count of how many times I have been running way, way over the speed limit and had time to slow down because of it.

What are y'all using, what works and what does not?

Much frownage upon speeding on the interstate.

    1. Find local track.

    2. Go to local weekend track-days.

    3. Speed in a controlled environment.

    4. Everyone around you is alive and safe at the end of the day... Hooray!

Everyone speeds on the interstate... If you don't you better be in the right lane.

    That, or your just smarter.

I have hit 150 MPH on a 2 lane highway in the middle of no ware, it was a rush to say the least. I will make a vid and post it next time.

I looked at car and drivers tests, they gave my Whistler 35/100 and the V1 97/100

I think that is what I will get if nobody chimes in with something better.

Fastest I've been is just over 160 in a 100km/hr zone. The car is something I'm not particularly proud of: my mother's 2000 Renault Megane.

I live and swear by my V1. Although it may not be as sensitive to newer KA bands it still catches them. It may not have GPS like the Escort but the arrows make all the difference. You know where your radar is coming from and when you pass it. The bogey counter also helps when there are a lot of LEO's checking. The V1 nor any Radar Detector can sniff out laser. It may pick up some laser scatter but usually with laser, once you're hit, you're done. Or its a false. (from a laser cruise control or tail lights or refracted light) The only thing to stop laser is a jammer which are actually legal in most states.

I've driven without my V1 and I was ok. I'd speed but not with confidence. Now when I cruise 20 over I can be sure. V1 picks up Instant On like a champ (if its being used in front of you and not on you). I feel naked on the interstate without it and its beeping. It is a bit sensitive and does false but overtime you learn how to read it. It's not fool proof though so use it with caution. Also your crappy detector messes with better ones by emitting false radar making us think its radar until a J comes up saying its a "junk" detector. I've picked up cops running constant from miles away.
Radar is also good if there is a cop coming up behind you or pulled over on the side and left his radar on, you can pick him up and slow down or clear the left lane to let them through. Its also a safety thing. People with radars don't drive more aggressive maybe faster but they are safer because they don't want to get caught. Aggressive driving is easy to pick out.
If you have $400 to spend on a V1 then go for it. I bought mine to see how it would perform on a trip from NYC to Orlando (95 Corridor) and it saved me enough times to pay for itself so i kept it. i love it. Had it since July. I recommend it

check out Radar Detector Jammer Forum

and my max speed is 135 MPH in the G35
Civic's gone to 115 MPH (took forever)
and the Q5 has been taken to 120 MPH on a short burst. Still have to open her up!

My max speed was 135 MPH ( electronic limiter) but a tuner made that little problem go away.

Radar Detector Jammer Forum is great, I think I will join there.

EDIT: Ferrer, I have never seen one in Texas either.

I'll never know, because Virginia is the only state where they're illegal. More accurately, it's legal to own one, but illegal to actually use it.

It's strange that they're not illegal here. Their only purpose is to break the law, yet people keep saying just because you have one doesn't mean that you are speeding etc. The same could be said for crack pipes, too I guess, but somehow it doesn't work out the same.
