Lotus Elan - Wikipedia, the free encyclopediaAfter the final production run of the Elan in 1995, Kia Motors bought all the relevant license of Elan from Lotus to manufacture their own version. Outwardly, the Kia version looks almost identical to the original. Through 1996 to 1999, Kia Motors built the car as the Kia Elan for the Korean market, using a 151 hp (113 kW) 1.8 L TSD engine instead of the Isuzu-made 1.6.
Life's too short to drive bad cars.
Did the Kia variants maintain the Lotus suspension components and settings.
If they did then this car is THE best handling FWD you're likely to ever come across.
Feels more like RWD and real easy to plant. It just needed better engine and development to become one of the all time greats -- thankfully common sense prevailed at Lotus ( well going bust helps ) and new cars the drive went to the proper wheels and for most the engine into the correct slot
"A woman without curves is like a road without bends, you might get to your destination quicker but the ride is boring as hell'
I had the chance to drive one (a Lotus) really fast and was amazed by the very high limits of this car. It takes guts to get to speeds fast enough to unsettle it. After the MX-5 this feels very grown-up, stable, safe, fast and comfortable. However, once you get past that it becomes a bit boring. Still and amazing FWD for its day.
Money can't buy you friends, but you do get a better class of enemy.
