Hmmm...what would be clever is if they could engineer a "motorway" mode that allowed either the revs to drop below the point at which the turbo(s) spool-up or disabled the turbos under partial throttle openings. I'd imagine that unless they're needed for acceleration, turbochargers actually become parasitic when you're cruising.

Oh, so it's just a case of most people in Amsterdam just being too drunk/stoned to care? I have to say that watching a Danish guy suffering from "the spins" and walking into the side of a moving van was quite amusing - served the little oik right.

That's a dangerous law. What that leads to is irresponsible cyclists crashing into cars and then, when the dismayed driver asks them to pay for the damage they've caused, telling them to get lost. As I said, I'd hate to own a nice car there (unless I was wealthy enough to afford bodyguards for it!)
