    I was playing devil's advocate, though, I agree that a manual usually makes a safer driver.

    Fixed. Or at least that's how it works over here. Having a manual gearbox is so common fools get used to it.

    And therefore more dangerous when it is done. So drive autos for safety.

    The problem we have here a lot (especially in or near large cities), is that there's a mix of hyper-aggressive drivers and super-complacent/distracted drivers. Except for (most) truckers just about everyone seems to be doing it these days. Drives me crazy, I totally get where people with road rage are coming from.
