Thought this was an interesting piece on the Ferrari V8 market in general: A Look at the modern Ferrari V8 market | AvidSquare
Apparently Maserati are planning on doing something mid-engined that slots in below the GranTurismo, and isn't 4C based. Hopefully it'll be basically a new Dino. Ferrari won't do it, so Maserati might as well - if they do it right, it could be amazing.
Not holding my breath, but it's nice to dream sometimes.

Or a Porsche one.

Ze vill get you efery time!
Anyway, if Maserati are aiming to be between BMW, Porsche and 'entry level' Ferraris then at least they're thinking in the right direction. Hopefully they can make some strides down that way.

In theory it does makes sense - having a Maserati for Audi money is very enticing. But remember we are talking about Fiat here, I fear they'll probably find a way to **** up...
Also, Jaguar's downmarket adventures were a little bit less than successful so it has to be done carefully.
Oh and it pains to see that a car maker like Maserati which should be doing battle with Ferrari and Aston Martin is relegated to fight with diesel Audi A6s...

Hmm.. not confrimed, but not unsurprising. I expected more turbos from Ferrari since the announcement of the Maserati engines, but I did kinda think they'd at least go the V8. The whole F1 going V6s is a good point though.

Yes it does indeed make sense.
Too much sense.
But if the want to go against the McLarens and Porsches they'll have to boost it heavily. The V8 is probably a better candidate.

When searching old negatives I found these beauties.
This was the state of my car, at the tender age of 15 months, in mid 1986....6 months later I received a phone call from somebody who said he now had it and wanted the instruction manual
The guy who caused this was a certain Van Gogh, I did not cut his ear off. On one of the shots you can see our webmaster at a very young age.
