    turbo+super

    just thinking.
what would it be like having a turbo and a supercharger on the same engine.
i spose it would work, but you would have to do a bit of internal work to be able to handle it, and you would need a bit of a powerful fuel system, also running a higher octane.
what are your thoughts on my whaky idea.

yea, i've thought of this before, and it's definitely possible. i bet the costs that would be required would make it so you might as well buy an engine that's naturally aspirated with the power you want. i bet it would be VERY loud

Hehe, that would be pretty nifty . I've heard that some (all?) newer semi diesels have supers and turbos on them, is that true? I can't remember where I heard it, but it might've been Trucks! on Spike TV . I probably misheard, hehe.
No-so-proud owner of a 1986 Mustang LX with the 2.3L four. Anyone wanna buy it? $500. I'll post some pics and info in the user's rides section soon.

I don't need anything too fancy, just something that can get me to the sun and back in 5 seconds flat.

I wanna see a comparison test between the Saleen SR, Lamborghini Gallardo, Ford GT, and Ferrari Challange Stradale. Anyone wanna help me with that? I already know who'd win, though ;).

I have read something similar on another car forum, except it was a Volvo. Supercharger and a Turbocharger on the same engine...supercharger add the power immediately at low RPM's while the Turbocharger kicks in later at higher RPM.

    Can't verify.

Lancia did this on their Groupe B rally car from the early '80's called the Delta Intergrale. The system was used as was desribed earlier in this thread; the super boosted power massively at the lowend (and also throughout the revs) and the turbo gave a huge top end punch.

If you're unfamiliar with Groupe B, it was pretty much one of the craziest racing championships in the whole history of motorsport. Cars were much faster then a human could ever drive them and subsequently the lives of both many drivers and spectators were lost. Insane cars nontheless though.

    nissan's mistake

Nissan also made an engine with both a supercharger and turbo. the only problem was they put it on a micra (march) with only a 1 litre to power, it still went like a rocket. if only they had done it with a skyline!
