Saw a lot of gorgeous cars during my holiday in Italy. Like:

2x Ferrari 458 Italia (a red one and a black one)
    Ferrari 599 GTB Fiorano (white)
    Ferrari F430 (red)
    Ferrari 355 (also red)
Lamborghini Gallardo LP550 Valentino Balboni Edition (in blue)
    4x Audi R8 (one of them was a V10)
    2x Audi S8 (both black)
    Audi RS5 (white)
    Alfa Giulietta Sprint
various old muscle cars, including a '73 Plymouth Barracuda
3x VW Karmann Ghia (all of them customized)
more 'vettes than you could count
a Wiesmann GT MF5 on the autostrada
...and, my absolute favourite, an SLS AMG (silver)

Some pretty cars down there (and we weren't even in a big city )

The S2000's wheels I don't really like, but everything else I do.

Today I saw a red Lotus Exige driven by an attractive young lady.

On a side street I saw a Jeep Wagoneer, the old ones.

Saw a gunmetal grey GTR over the weekend, and a Volt last Thursday....though far more intriguing, I saw one of these...
2011 VW Jetta Spyshot -- Autoblog Green

One yesterday on my drive home(possible that exact one), and a white one this morning....VW USA headquarter is down the street from my apartment, so I guess its possible that it is a Jetta...

Interestingly it had a fake emblem on it, just like the pic...

Wow, I didn't know it was based off the Altima coupe. That's pretty cool. Gosh, platform sharing is so sophisticated now.

No we don't. In fact we don't get many Nissan cars at all...

You get Infiniti tough, so that's not so bad. You probably get the 370Z at least, hopefully?

Yes, and the GT-R, the Micra, the Pixo, the Note and the Cube. But from the C-segment up we got no cars, all crossovers. Unfortunately they seem to be quite succesful with this strategy...

An "in construction" Porsche 906 replica ( well "Kit" more of as it's stealing some Boxster parts and engine - no air cool -- BUT PRACTICAL-ish )

How it will look at the end ...

.. and road legal and drivable.

Only had 5 mins free time and spent an hour chatting over the design and direction he's taking.

Going to be a helluva car and one to add to the list of "wants".
3/4 of the weight of the original race car and capable of fitting MUCH wider rubber and tweaked Boxter engine producing 300hp.

    Wil have camera next time

Matra, is it one of the Rennsport 906 replicas? I'm considering either their 906 or Chuck Beck's 904 as I already have the perfect engine for one, built by Dean Polopolous. As well as a spare 2.2 built to R spec.

Here's a shot of the 906 chassis, virtually identical to an original.

Original(ish.. LFD) Jeep. Seems I see interesting cars on the way to the pub.. I think that means I should go there more often.

Nope. This is a "re-design" from the original using more modern materials, safer and utilising latest manufacturing. As well as the main chassis jig, he has already developed 700 jigs to ensure perfect positioning of everything - even the handbrake Was trying to get him to think to sell the jigs to larger outfit as based on Boxster it's WELL within anyones grasp.

THe guy doing it is a small arms designer ... the technology he's using on it is astounding for a "kit" and is also focussed on road safety. The Rennsport uses the original 1" tubing which really is NOT up to the job of surviving a road accident these days. Is also building a much better and safer fuel tank mounting. Even 12 guage sheet end plates get plasma cut from compture spec. Not a single file in sight in the orkshop - which I think is a WEE bit of a shame, but he comes from arms manufacture ... I don't

We chatted at length on the suspension choices he was going with, what elasticity to go for in the bushes and how much adjustment to allow for in the rose-jointed option.

Also went over tyre and contact patch and think he might go forward with a custom offset wheel to bring the contact patch in and reduce the roll impact on the grip.
Needs a bit more work on the geometry and another topic was where to pitch the road setup in terms of ride hide.

Am hoping to hook him up with a local expert who's another mate to look at low volume NON-STRESSED c/f panel production. He did a full Darrian/Davrian in c/f ... so good the factory told him to cease and hand all the moulds and materials over - copyright The chance to get the weight even LOWER on a 906 woudl be sublime
