    America and ignorance

I really do love America, its my home. But why are there so many ignorant people here? There not stupid, but just ignorant to the rest of the world. For example, I say something about how I like French cars, and someone responds "French cars? I wouldn't never drive no car made by some cowards." I HATE IT! Why can't people here not be so ignorant?

lol... and what does it mean?? lol

No I think they are like that because, it's the culture in the USA to is unaware of the others. The media are the most involved in this situation. The medium american thinks that He could live alone without help. it's the acute individualism, me before the others and it's better like that for the world.

and it goes a long way back, I remember a European TV crew trying to interview a middle aged mid western american man in the sixties about the then ongoing war in Vietnam. His reply to a critical question was simply: You are not American.

I think we shoudl be careful in that American's aren't stupid.

The government and media control the knowledge learned and communicated.

It's not the individual's "fault", it's the acceptance of the restriction of information in a so-called "free" society.

For example, jut look at the latest release by the Senate comitte analysing the decision to go to war in Iraq. It has pointed the finger at the CIA and did NOT even consider the role of the whitehouse and government. Why not ? Becuse the Republican majority wouldn't let it. It will take a second investigation to do that and it won't report till next year.

Fortunately the UK Butler report will be out next week. It is investigating the intelligence AND government involvement. I'm pleased to be in a free society which doens't NEED a consitution to know what is right and wrong

Anyway, to all US friends on UCP, don't take this as a personal attack, some of us understand the limits your education, media and government place on your ability to know better.
