Mind Blowing - Lingenfelter Corvette 0-60 in 1.97 secs

yes you read correctly. this is one of the most amazing cars i have ever seen. several variants of it, but as reviewd in the article and shown in the video, this baby puts down 1100hp at the wheels. 0-60 comes up in an astonishing 1.97 secs and it does a quater mile on 'street legal' tires, without nos in 8.95.

article here (it was to big to post):

check the article and vid out and speak your mind...

1.97 secs 0 to 60???? That sounds way to good to be true, even with 1,100 hp do the tire spin that would generate on street tires! I'll believe it as soon as a reputable car magazine tests it.

    they're not real street tyres.

I'd posted article on this a while back..

The tyres are 'legal' tyres, but are race rubber and minimal tread pattern.
So it's 'dragster" rubber made to pass the letter of the law on legality

I have seen the video of the Car racing the F-18.. it was pretty incredible. I think that the challenge between the jet and this vette was set up by Motor Trend magizine... so I hope that is a credible enough of a source

That time almost seems too good to be true. That is absolutely mind blowing.

Yeah, the tires were Mickey Thompson E/T Street Cheater Slicks which are DOT legal for street use(have 6/32 tread depth i believe) and as someone commented are made of a slightly harder compound than your average street tire.

    softer for more grip.
Does anyone know if the sidewalls are more compliant ?
Is there a spec anywhere for these tyres ??

If the tire surface is softer then the sidewall has to be harder, just like any racing tires, no?

It was indeed tested by MT.

But you would NOT want to drive this car on that setup on the street. Add about 1 second for normal tires. Maybe less than that if you go with supersticky performance (autocross/roadrace-type) tires.

Mickey Thompson ET's are designed to run on reduced tire pressures. They allow the sidewalls to wrinkle/deflect considerably under acceleration.
