I've never driven a hybrid so I can't talk about that, based on looks...Prius.

Bang for the buck: Prius, you are getting so much. Toyota probably loses money on every Prius sold.
There is a waiting list for a prius because it is so popular. So Toyota calls it a job well done

Well since our USDM Echo is a Yaris with a trunk tacked on the back, it's pretty crappy if you ask me. They should get over the prejudice that Americans don't like hatchbacks. Of course, they do give us a hatchback Echo now in the form of the Scion xA. The first generation Prius was pretty fugly in my opinion, the new one is better. But since I have no interest in any car whose gears I cannot shift myself, the only hybrid that's ever been even remotely interesting to me was the original Honda Insight with the 5-speed stick.

i dont know wut ppl see in the prius? it seems extremly ugly to me. There are much better looking cars out there that may not have as good epa mileage but will still do.

The Prius has a waiting list in California, simply because all the stars would like to be seen in it. The BMW X5 has a waiting list, what does that say about the car: that people want to be seen in it, that shouldn't be used as an argument to say the car is good.

The Echo is a good car, old nowadays, but well built, slightly funky looking (Funny, if you ask me) and is sold relatively cheap in Australia at least. The Prius, while being in a completely different catagory, is also about Au$25,000 more than the most expensive Echo Hatch (The sedan is an absolute joke: no wonder Toyota now has Scion!).

Come to think of Scion, maybe it would have been better for the brand if the Prius had been marketed as a Scion, rather than a Toyota? or maybe they didn't really want the brand in the first place......

All in all I can't justify paying $25,000 more to have a slightly larger car, with questionable resale, rather than a conventional hatch which does the job just as well, only slightly less efficiently. For a base Prius (There sold fully loaded here) I could almost get 2 Echos! ridiculous.....

    ho, please, NO.

I don't care if a car was the best in the world, I'd hate it to be the only one.

Could you imagine how much of a compromise it would be to do all the jobs we use our cars for.

Could you imagine the motorway in the morning with EVERYONE looking the same.

    uuuuurrrgh.

Can't Toyota combine the electro engine in the Prius with one of their D4D diesel engines, that would really provide a frugal car.
