why did they put a radical in this lap times? the radical is a full race car that is only for the track. They should have not put the radical. But wow. a whole 20sec gap between the first and last.

Wrong, the Radical can be a street legal car.

The full race Radicals have extended undertrays which are NOT recommended for street use as you can't pass BY a bump without tearing it off
The suspension is set on high ride height and typcially the anti-roll bar is adjusted minimum (soft) or can be disconnected completely - best.
Also, road version need the lights package.

However, you're right in that the car on TG track was probably set up for track use, so a road setup would be slower. BUT, the point of a street legal version is that with a coil-spanner and a 12mm spanner you can convert from street to track in about 30 mins

No, the Radical is available as a fully road leagal car in the UK.
Autocar did quite an interesting test in some pretty foul weather (snow, ice, rain etc) with the Radical SR3, Palmer Jaguar JP1, Westfield XTR, Grinnall Scorpion, Caterham R500 and something else, which I can't remember off the top of my head.
    Thanks for all the fish

i think if these people had a few weeks with each car these times would dramatically better. And also if they would test them on 2-4 different tracks we would get a real looksie-doo on gearing and handeling and so on

It depends who they had driving them.

A local paper hack, for sure would need weeks.
BUT, anyone with a racing/rallying background is able to find the limits of a vehicle VERY quickly and fidn the optimum driving technique for each within a few laps.
I've personal experience of this with my Bagheera and the A610. With local track professionals and international drivers. By the time we've completed a couple of warm up laps they were both able to take the cars to their limits and 4-wheel drift under power on corner exits and clip each kerb at optimum spots A 'real' driver really is another level of skill and capability above us mere mortal 'wannabees'

i think the topgear track is one of the better tracks to test cars on around, it has the hammerhead to filter out understeery cars, and the follow through for unstable cars. Long straights, and 90 degree corners. I think its perfect, and it gives a very good impression for laptimes... Look how close all cars are to each other

    Except it's flat
Some off-camber turrns and apex on brows would have been interesting to show up suspension capability for real world situations !

What I think is wrong is testing cars in wet while not others, there is no point, The list is all jumbled, like an Audi S4 beats a Porsche 996 Turbo…

yeah, but this is Britain, our weather is unpredictable around a norm of sunny with intermittent showers

Didn't they test the same car in the dry and wet, and decide a "wet" lap was 4 seconds slower and adjust the times accordingly?
    Thanks for all the fish
