    fiction?

ever read a book called the darwin awards?
some morons strapped an experimental jet engine onto a car and tested it out on a dried out lake. problem was they couldnt shut it off of slow the car down, so they slammed into the side of a cliff at upwards 300mph.

hows that for an engine swap?

My favourite engine swap was the bloke who put the 24 litre (i think) engine out of a Sherman tank (I think it was a Sherman ) in a Rover SD1. I think the thread with the pic is still on UCP ... ill haveth look.

One of my favorite is a 13b rotary engine in a MG midget. Another insane one is putting a 350 SBC into a midget

I like Gen 3's in Fieros. Those are cool more traction than they know what to do with.

Ford Cobra Mustang 4.6 (Yes, the supercharged one), transmission, and rear end in a Focus ZX3. It's been done.

Heh, Doris!!! I'd love to drive a V8 Mini just to sate my curiosity, I'm intrigued to know how the handing is affected, I hope it's not too negative, Mini's just shouldn't do point and squirt!

Personally I'd prefer a round nose, (Don't like clubbies much) but I guess it just don't fit. Anyone know of a roundnose V8 Mini?

I guess it doesn't take a genius to work out what my dream engine/car combo is... But it would be great though.

Maybe with a brace of turbos added for good measure. Anyone know how well VTECs respond to forced induction?

Yeah, It takes major surgery to make the V8 fit in the Clubman.
However, I've seen a few V8's in the rear of pickups/vans drivign the rear wheels. THere's an AWFUL example on that site, with the huge dragster rear wheels look. Ones I've seen were more low-key

Eh? Can't find the one you mean...

Surely you don't mean this 'stunnah'!

The most intriguing one I've seen is the GT40 engined pickup. I don't even know how much truth there is in the fact that it's even a GT40 engine. It [the engine] looks pretty similar to one I saw one a TV a while back which went into a GT40 replica, wouldn't forget that snakes nest of an exhaust manifold any time soon. Weird thing to do to a Mini/GT40 if you ask me.

Any GT40 spods in the house?

Another good engine replacement is the VTEC in an Exige .. however they completley ruin the cars dynamics and do not stand a chance against the TT260 Exiges (Turbo Technics Supercharged Exige using the standard 1.8 unit). Audi engines have also been put into Exiges with horrifying concequences (0-60 in 8 seconds, braking distance increased by 100yds)
