    Anyway...

This thread's been gone for a while. But it is back in black. December is an exciting time for my car. My inspection and state emissions tests are both due by the end of the month. Being a 10 year old VW, with 160k+ miles, the car its fair share of issues. It's always a gamble whether or not the car will pass on its first try.

So we dropped the car off 2 weeks ago at a small shop run by a guy my mom's fiancee Dan knows. He was going to install my exhaust and do the inspection for cheap. His shop's a little busy, since the garage is 2 bays behind his house. So it took a while till we heard anything from him.

When we finally got a call, it was to tell us the exhaust was on the car, and all it needed to pass inspection was a brake line and rear drums. Awesome. Do it. I picked it up today. And I'm once again in love with my car. I turned the key, the motor rumbled to life, and it had a smooth purr. Keeping the door open, I gave it a little throttle and took it up to about 2500. Yay. Amazing.

The exhaust setup I'd ordered was from the same company the last sysetm was- Techtonics Tuning out of Oregon. But this time I opted to spend the extra $60 and get the Flowmaster muffler over the Dynomax. I did this for a couple reasons. The design of the Dynomax wouldn't have worked since the car is now lowered. It would have hung down too low. And second, I didn't have the extra 130 bones that the Borla muffler would have cost me. I thought the Flowmaster was a happy medium. And I'm very pleased with the results.

All together, I got a full cat-back installed, new rear brakes, a new brake line, state inspection and emissions done for $185.

I messed up the video I did today. It didn't start when I wanted it to, and I missed the awesome accidental burnout I did. I was turning out of a parking lot of gravel onto a wet road and went from steady throttle to wide open. The result was lots of wheelspin and the tach pegged at 6000 until the tires bit and into 2nd I went. It was freakin' awesome, but of course the video didn't start for some reason. Sigh. I'll probably go out again tomorrow and get new video and some decent non-blurry pictures of the car post-drop. The ones I took a while back sucked worse than Rocke's mom.

Oh, quick story. I got to work today and I parked next to my buddy Johnny. I turned the car off, and he rolled down his window. He asked to hear my exhaust, so I turned the car back on and took it to 2000 revs nice and easy, then laid into it until it popped the limiter. Then shut it down again. One of the dudes who works in the install bay starts walking over, and says, "nice car. That a VR swap?" I was in shock. I was happy. "Nah, stock two liter," I replied. Turns out he is the owner of the black Mk4 GTI 1.8T I've been drooling over the last few weeks.
