They are reliable (not to japanese standards but still good) cheap to run and repair, easy to drive and the larger 1.8 and 2.0 zetec engines were great. They have plenty of space for most people, and have almost every (sensible) option you can think of and are completly unoffensive looking.
So there you go, the Ford Escort is a good choice for a daily driver.
I haven't even started on the turbo, 4x4 and cosworth models.
I ask you, whats so wrong about them that demands bumping an old thread?

Well, the main reason Skyline was delayed upon delayed and beyong delayeeed is because they can't decide which marque they should compete with. Even BMWs, Mercs had 500-600 horses nowadays, how could a cheap Continental slayer get and gain cult status again?
