Yeah I managed to draw a pretty cool car in my Yr 12 Tech Drawing class, but I gave it a Daewoo grill for some reason. I don't know why, it just seemed to fit. Then some bastard stole the picture. My main piece of advice is stick with the point of view Conventry told you, front on and profile drawings are easy, anyone with the tiniest amount of talent can do them. You'll learn a lot more from doing the more dynamic angles, at a quicker rate, then go back and do the profiles and stuff if you wanna.

Yes I realise I got no credibility 'til I scan in some work in, but I'm too lazy.

As a side note, do you ever get annoyed at people always throwing an 'N' in your nick where there is no 'N' Conventry? (Yeah I know I spelt it wrong but you picked me up on it one time so I've made a resolution to always spell it like that)

I don't worry about it too much, but am slightly puzzled by the popular spelling of "conventry".

No nuns here, move along please.

The Uni is good, the place isn't. There are worse places in the UK, but I can't imagine that there are many of them.

I think TVR would be interesting, but I might do boats.
I'd prefer to be on the continent really.

As they say "It's not the asshole of the world, but you can see it from there"

You have no idea how lucky you are Conventry, over here if you do a vehicle design course you have the option of going to Holden or Ford.

    Holy shit! You're damn good.
I wish I could draw like that. The only view I can draw is directly frome the side

    1) draw a rectangle in perspective. Then put a few 'horizontal' lines in where the axles will go. Then, at 90° to the 'axle' you want a 'vertical' line, which will be the vertical centreline of the wheel.

    2) map out where the body will go. I usually end up making the car too long, or two narrow. Probably the hardest bit is keeping it all in proportion and perspective.

    3) fill in details etc.

I'd probably use that as an underlay, and do a better version, as the basic perspective is there, and it is fairly easy to rework an existing sketch than starting again.

These were never meant to be Vauxhalls, it just turned out that way.

Nothing too spectacular yet. I am also a highly self critical perfectionist, so most of my ideas which are a bit rough I don't like.

Hardly anything is scanned in either.

I quite like my Dunhill car.

It's certainly orginal, I'll give you that. I drew what I reckon the new RR Corniche should look like instead of the 100EX, it looked pretty cool, but I got told it looked like Cruella DeVille's car, which to be honest is why I liked it but it kind of ruined it.

I find myself doing the same thing, I have a habit drawing in pen. If I'm halfway through and screw something up I just screw it up and start again. I really should start to use pencil but I hate getting the shit all over your hand...

The method shown by Coventrysucks is really good.
I've done a F430/Murciélago-mix with some ideas of my own.
    Unfortunately i don't have a scanner.

I'm working on my next car right now: Audi A8 Avant Cabrio.
Looks great so far and should definitely go into production - lol

Mostly it takes practise, but you could start off by drawing a recangular block in 3d, then making that into your "car".
