    These awards always show me.....

How much the manufacturers pay the Journalists.

It's obviously a crock when Hyundai win anything other than the Value award.

But onto another subject: Car Awards time is coming up, with COTY Australian style coming up.

My Guess: Territory. By a mile.

its the American Accord, or the Accord V6 as Honda dubs it (even though its got a 4 cylinder as one of its models)

how they ever got one version of a car to be so great and another to be such a dud will always excape me

some major players i guess can be seen for Wheels COTY as IB4R said: Fiesta, Astra, Territory just to name a few. The Territory's been winning 9/10 of everything though so it will behard to beat. only fuel consumption and offroad ability will hold it back IMO

Personally I think the Mazda6 should have won the year the BA did. Don't get me wrong, the BA is a great car, but the Mazda6 ignited an entire category all over again. Plus certain comments from a judge didn't make me entirely convinced the BA won sheerly on its merits. I think the RX-8 may have been swayed to win to keep Mazda quiet (they were quite vocal on how unimpressed they were at not winning with the 6), but I definately see the Tezza winning this year. I don't see the Astra being a contender, but if the Liberty gets an entry because of its 3.0R and 3.0R-B models, I'd see them as looking good. If Honda got the safety right in its new Odyssey it'd be a contender as welll, but it isn't to be.

well i think it was pretty close, all 3 of the last cars in 2002 were trend setters and each couldve walked away with the award. Robbo's comments on the BA about it being dynamically superior to cars costing 3x the amount though wouldve had some weight with the other judges and that ended up leading to the XR6T's Euro tour.

Another judges' comment about the award would really help Ford's sales left me a little disallusioned. Oh well COTY has had history of being extremely biased, the VN being a prime example.

or maybe the Camira...some years i guess they just get "normal" cars winning the award from manufacturers delaying a launch to get the car right

well...depends what you call a shit car as well. some cars are held back by price from import taxes and levy's and all the other ways the government robs the manufacturers of money. something like the Smart ForTwo could win in a year of dud cars, but that doesnt mean itself is that much of a dud
