That's super awesome, I wish I coulda done something like that in high school.
Life's too short to drive bad cars.
My high school had a shop class supposedly, but it closed long before I even got there.
I honestly think schools these days are going the wrong direction, too much is emphasized on going to college for academics, but for those that don't, I don't see many options for vocational school.
There's something very satisfying in putting something together, like Lego or a piece of furniture. I hope these high schoolers get to drive their creation when they get their license... or if Mazda could put it on a track, maybe before that. Heck, this very project may be inspiring the designer of the very next generation GT 86.

I'm doing my automotive research paper for high school. The project itself is due August, so we have some time (we're a group of 4 students working on a Mazda restoration with reports and essaydune manuals). And I'm also looking for the list of colleges that may be good to study auto restoration.
If you're keen on professional automotive restoration, Ohio Technical College has a Classic Car & Vintage Restoration career training program (18 months). Or you might also check the program in Restoration Technology at McPherson College.
These young kids did a great job!
It was indeed a cool project, that car was pretty small.
