Ad in the paper for a 1982 Mazda 323 (A.K.A Ford Laser). 75 bucks NZ, but it needs a new clutch. How hard would it be repairing a clutch in a car like this?
Thanks.

For 75 beans, it probably needs a lot more than just a new clutch. My sister had an '81 Laser that was own by my grandparents from new, looked after right and everything, it was all bad by about 4 years ago. Steering was heavier than a similarly aged Ford Courier, lost oil and water at a rate of knots and blew smoke.
They said it was suitable for paddock car only (What I want) so its probably bit rusty, dented, etc but all that shits fine with me.
i dont know if they are in NZ...
the GTX version of that car is awsome! its got AWD and turbo and is a great starter for rallying if your into that.
Yeah the GTX's rock but they were later on.
if its only for a paddock car, would you even bother changing the clutch?
If you WERE to change the clutch though, i think i'd be a bit tight trying to fix it, you my even have to remove the engine to get at it

My rides:
1999 Mustang GT
1974 Ford Country Squire (for sale!)
1991 Jeep Cherokee
1970 Shelby GT500
Havn't been rung about it yet so i'm presuming its probably been sold or something.

all that is required is removing the front left wheel and strut, then some cowl and sway bar and then undo the bell housing bolts. the tansaxle will come out with a bit of frienly persuasion(hammer crowbar) and now its time to remove the clutch, replace it and allign it the repeat but reverse the process.
now new clutch in the mazda. you will need a clutch alligning tool.
hope ya get it there nifty little paddock bashers.
