Full '07 Monte route released - night stages back

The organisers of the Rallye Monte Carlo confirmed the full route for next years' event recently and for the first time in a number of years a WRC event will feature night stages.

As was announced in April, the 75th edition of the Rallye Monte Carlo, which runs from January 18th-21st 2007 and which will as normal open the battle for the FIA World Rally Championship, will return to the Ardeche region of France - and the Vercors Mountains, where its legendary reputation was built. As such the roads used in recent years will not be utilised.

"The official starting ceremony will take place on the Thursday evening in Champ de Mars gardens followed by two night stages in the Vercors. On Friday and Saturday, the Ardèche and Haute-Loire will host the racing," explained a statement on the events official website.

"On Saturday night, contestants will drive back to Monaco, where their vehicles will be placed in the final leg parc fermé. A super special has been organised for Sunday morning. The course will encompass the lower part of the Formula 1 circuit, with drivers setting off in twos for a minimum of two laps. The traditional prize giving ceremony will start at 3:30 pm at the Place du Palais Princier, in front of the Palace.

"René Isoart, ACM general commissioner and clerk of the course, is pleased to be bringing the race back its historic roots and hopes that this legendary course will attract many amateur drivers."

And we don't get to watch thanks to Speed, and their fixation with all things Nascar.

BBC World or Channel 4? Possibly.

    I can't wait - I might go down for this year's rally.
