Corvette LS7.R V8 engine was crowned the Global Motor Sport Engine of the year at the Inaugural Professional Motorsport World Expo in Cologne, Germany............The Race Engine Technology Magazine organized these awards and they further invited 50 top-notch race engineers to make the final choice. GM was enthralled to bag this prize

I don't get it, how can it be a good motor if it doesn't have 100hp/L, 4 valves a cylinder, and DOHC???

Can either the BMW or Chev engine blocks be simply/cheaply bored (or even honed?) when worn, like a Falcon motor eg, or do they require expensive liners or otherwise be a throwaway?Originally Posted by Egg Nog
I'm pretty sure the walls in the LS7 have been pushed to the limits of what's safe without hitting water jackets. I don't think boring it is a good idea.

The corvette engine win is far closer to a production engine than the Audi. The corvette has also been as dominant as the Audi for a longer time. The Audi engine is fantastic.....................but not nearly as relevant to what people can buy.
I honestly don't think brining up racing engines is any sort of decent argument.
You should be comparing them strictly stock -vs- stock. That's what counts, because that's what we're actually comparing.
