It's a brilliant drive at a third of the price.
Again, just like we were discussing in the Volt thread different countries have different needs and cultures and that shows in the way think of and design cars. In the US fuel is cheap and you've got no corners, so your idea of a sporty car is the muscle car. What the muscle car does is invest everything in the engine, because that's what suits best the American needs. Abysmal fuel consumption, crude suspension and inexistant brakes don't matter because fun is to be had in a straight line.
We on the other hand have no straights at all and very expensive fuel, so straight line performance is basically useless. Also our mountain roads are twisty and narrow and big cars may simply not fit. So, what we did is develop the hot hatchback. To us it didn't matter if 0-60 was achieved in 8 rather than 5 seconds, mostly because in some mountain roads you never reach even 60mph. However, for our mountain passes we needed handling and brakes and that's what we invested our money in.
I'm not saying one way is better than the other, just that different conditions pave the way for different types of cars. But please, don't come here saying A or B is rubbish just because it may not be your way.
Lack of charisma can be fatal.
