Toyota returns in 2011 as engine supplier:
autosport.com - Le Mans News: Toyota confirms sportscar return

Amid much rumor it seems there is finally something concrete. Mulsannes Corner seems to think that the engine they will use their Super GT 3.4 Liter based engine(which is based on their Formula Nippon unit), that will fit the new LMP engine reg. This approach will also fit with how Honda/Acura have done their program, as their LMP/Indy motor ended up going back to their GT500 HSV-10....

They also seems to think this is a precursor for their 2012 effort...

They must win.

They have unfinished business.

that is good news for the Le Mans Series. On the other hand it is remarkable that the Japanese Dome was not the weapon of choice, but the Lola Coupe.

Appearantly late Nov./early Dec. is the time that Audi takes out of the year to launch new stuff. Michelin's Le Mans Live site is reporting that the R18 has been testing recently and will be publically launched on Dec. 10.

Reading that Dome essay from a while back it seems they don't like working with OEs much anymore(or really, anyone for that matter), not to mention their experience with Toyota was much soured during the Group C days.

probably, and yes in motorsport sentimental reasons/chauvinism don't count too much. Another aspect could be that Dome would not fund the developemnt of the engine, something Rebellion will probably do, at least partly.

The only OEM that Dome works with his Honda Racing, and that's just their Super GT cars.
