Where were the fans? I saw approximately zero in the stands - was there anyone in the infield?

That new Porsche engine is going to dominate the series...nothing can touch it from third gear on....not even able to draft.
Indeed. I'm just glad JPM didn't get the win. You heard him complain about how those engines were too fast on the straights. But wouldn't the contradiction to that be that the Lexus was quicker through the short turns. Oh Juan, when will you be gracious in defeat?

Commentators said that most spectators are in the infield at 24 hour events.

I knew nobody cared but really nobody cared. I guess the ALMS is niche enough and this an even smaller niche.

If you mean the Rolex 430s, I think they're built on a spaceframe with F430 bodywork.
That, or they take an F430 and strip it down, which would be horrendously costly.

I have no idea why they don't just buy an F430 GT3. Same thing with the Corvettes. They should just buy a Z06 GT3 and actually be competitive.

Psychic intuition, he must know that the moon landing was staged and that Elvis is still alive.

The Rolex cars are just Ferrari Challenge versions.

Thats what I believe too....Rolex GT class basically uses the one-make cars of each sportscar and balance them somehow with weight and power. The Porsches were basically GT3 cup cars and ther Ferraris were the challenge cars. They couple those with purpose built tube-frame car like the Pontiac GXP or the Infiniti G35 or the RX8....I guess the performance level is probably similar to the GT3 cars in FIA and Speed World Challenge GT cars...

They just took a Challenge car and slapped a splitter and a wing on it and beefier rubber.

aren't GT3 cars made out of one-make cars too? not all of them, as for the Ford GT, Morgan Aero 8 or the Venturi Heritage, but I thought the F430, 997 for instance were just challenge and cup cars respectively.

The Rolex series allowed GT3 cars with no or little modification beginning last year, but it appears only Porsche has taken them up on that.

Not much of a penalty IMO...but at the same time I don't expect the same faction that allowed the engine advantage to then lay a big penalty on them for another advantage discovered post race.

"The winning No. 58 Brumos Racing Porsche Riley was found to be out of compliance for minimum vehicle weight in post-race technical inspection. The car was found to be 12 pounds underweight. The team was fined $5,000 in addition to five driver, team and manufacturer points. This will not affect the race results."
