    What's wrong with this picture?

Just received an e-mail from Audi with some discounts and what have you. As i opened the e-mail, i looked at the header picture they have and i'm like WTF? check it out and tell me if you see what i saw and what you think it is. I was totally confused, nor can i tell the model.
    Enjoy!

Only thing I see that is "odd" for a new car in America is that it has a good ol' third pedal.

Am I thinking too simply or........am I just lost?

The shifter has the automatic markings to the left side yet there are three pedals. The stick is that of a manual but was perhaps photoshopped into an automatic's interior.

That said, I'm impressed if one of the services is changing your automatic out for a stick shift.

no the shifter is auto. note the lock button on the left side.

I think the stick is from a manual car but the interior is clearly that of an auto. If you look around the base of the shift boot it appears to be photoshopped into the image. In other words they added a third pedal and a manual shifter but left the automatic's gear indicator on the left side of the shifter.

Maybe "genuine semi-auto" shifting? What I am getting from looking a bit harder and at the mentioned clues, is maybe a fully auto system that can be turned off completely, meaning a third pedal now has a place in cars again.

Agree? No? Definitely something interesting in there, regardless.

Actually this is Ferrer's car. He said if he was ever going to drive an Audi it'd better have a clutch, but he never specified what kind of transmission.

    Damn you've caught me out...

I was still far more concerned about the dead steering, relentless understeer and stupid ride while driving than trying to figure out the cog swapper though.

It'd be funny if someone used to driving a standard hoped into that and nailed the foot brake instead.

I have had this confusion several times after a period in a rental automatic and then back to normal....

That happens to me as well when I drive an auto, when I'm coming to a stop I search for the clutch only to find the brake...
