The fifth generation Micra (K14) was unveiled at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. It has all-new exterior and interior design and shares nothing from its predecessor. Like most new superminis, the car has many colour customizations. The fifth generation comes with a system called trace control, which prevents understeer by softly pinching the brakes. It borrows its range of engines from the Mark IV Renault Clio. Currently it is offered with a 1.5 diesel engine that produces 90 horsepower and a 0.9 petrol engine that produces 90 horsepower; however, with its overboost function, it produces 95 horsepower. An entry level, 1.0 petrol that produces 70 horsepower is intended to join the engine lineup in the future. Also, there is talk of a Nismo version that will implement the 1.6 liter engine from a Clio RS. Sales in Europe will begin in March 2017.
