Peugeot's top speed 212mph, Audi 207mph.
Audi has quite the uphill battle.
It's mayhem out here with drivers really struggling to keep the cars on the black stuff.
If you should see a man walking down a crowded street talking aloud to himself, don't run in the opposite direction, but run towards him, because he's a poet. You have nothing to fear from the poet - but the truth.
(Ted Joans)
Porsche's running 1-2-3 right now in night qualifying, no doubt due to the track conditions.
Lola Aston just clocked a 3:25
The Saleen just did a 3:47:xx
End of session 2 and all the expected front runners did well. The Saleen is definitely looking dangerous, and I wouldn't discount it for a win.
Van Merksteijn and Team Essex pretty much flip flopped positions throughout the session.
GT2 was a battle between IMSA Performance, Flying Lizard and Virgo.
Franck Montagny : "We can still improve... you never know what Audi is up to."
Wednesday 11 June 2008 - 23h58
# 8 Peugeot Sport Total - 908
Franck Montagny, second fastest in the first qualifying session of Wednesday says: We can still improve.
Frank Montagny only failed by two tenth of a second to snatch the fastet lap from Stephane Sarrazin, already poleman 2007. The new track record for the 13.629km thus still stands for the #9 Peugeot 908 Hdi FAP at nearly 247 km/h. Here is what he tells us concerning the car he will share with Ricardo Zonta and Christian Klien during the race.
I think that the current limit for us is around 3:16, my fastest lap was not entirely clear, and we could certainly optimize the tyre configuration, but track conditions were really very good, and the car was very well balanced. You never know what Audi is up to, so we continue to work towards the race.

If Peugeot's Bruno Famin is correct, the race doesn't look good for the Pugs: AUTO-RACING - LE MANS: Pruett's Thursday Trackside Blog - SPEEDtv.com
Pruett says that Famin doesn't BS, and it seems due to the problems at Sebring and during Peugeot's 24 Hour test(which are probably the same that have dogged Peugeot from day one-hydralics, wheel bearings, etc.), even some of the guys at Peugeot are questioning if they'll even be around, let alone a factor, at 3:00 PM Sunday.
well time will tell, having 6 sec in your pocket might be the difference between running at 10/10th and running at 9/10th. And if running at 9/10th can cover the Audi they might just last the 24 hours....but with Audi being able to seemingly run 10/10th over 24 hours Peugeot might have problem....
The race will be epic, thats for sure...

Well maybe it has already become a usual staff for me, but here is Fabio Babini, who will drive a #97 F430 today for BMS Scuderia Italia, competing in 1999 Russian F3 Championship. In 1999 he drove a Dallara F399 for Pilot F3 Racing team. The pic is taken during the 1st round of 1999 championship - May, 14-16 at Neva Ring.
Just for the info
(BTW, I wanted to upload three pics, but the system behaves strangely - it only allows to upload one of them, and when I've tried to upload them one by one it simply replaced the previous by the new one)
