Hamas in F1
The Palestinian exteremist group Hamas has cemented a new sponsorship deal with Japanese Super Aguri F1 driver Takuma Sato. Hamas’ logo and motto, “Death to Israel,” will appear on Sato’s driver suit and front winglets. “Takuma and Hamas share similar values and his actions like Hamas’ instill mortal fear in his rivals,” Hamas’ director of PR, Mahmoud al-Zahar, told The Skidpad via satellite phone from an undisclosed location.
Sato, famous for his erratic driving and kamikaze-style passing moves, is a perfect fit for Hamas. Hamas’ sponsorship is not limited to monetary support, but also provides trade support worth millions of dollars, in the areas of logistics, strategy and publicity. Hamas’ influence have already be seen in the Super Aguri F1 camp with Sato announcing he will begin claiming responsibility for all ontrack destruction. This will save FIA stewards much work while also renforcing Honda and Hamas’ tenet of cut-throat tactics.
Hamas’ sponsorship will no doubt generate sponsorship opportunities for other F1 teams as the Israeli Defense Force will likely respond in kind or simply bulldoze Super Aguri’s development center.
