The door of the Ford GT is so wide that when parked beside another car, it would be almost imposible to get in due to the thing on top of the door. But overall, Its a magnificent car I must say.

SLR...no supercar comes close in terms of luxury while providing the same degree of performance. The GT may be faster, but it is not going to be more comfortable to sit in. Plus, you can't get out of the GT when you're parked close to another car. (Though, I don't know why you'd even dare to park it in a parking lot...)

Given the choice I'd take the Ford. If I wanted a real grand tourer I'd rather have a Vanquish or DB9 than the SLR.
    Here Here.

One is a GT (SLR) and the other a balls-in-all Supercar (Ford GT). I think it was both Richard and Jeremy on Top Gear that said the SLR was a confused car, a GT wanting to be a Supercar. To much Mercedes-Benz plush, not enough McLaren Go/Handling....

All the figures I have found put the SLR marginally ahead in straight line speed.
But who honestly judges purely on its acceleration figures and nothing else?

    The cars are very different.

I'm sure by the time that you have engineered the GTs chassis out of CF, built carbon ceramic brakes, had special tyres developed etc, etc, the GT would be in the same price region.

There isn't much point trying to asses them as equals.
    Thanks for all the fish
