Another video review of the Pontiac G8 GT

    John's Journal on Autoline Detroit

This presenter assails you with one of those really awful nasally US accents but, to his credit, does strive to present a balanced view imo

as for the Evo / G8 comparo = epic failure. Why would you even compare the two.

Fantastic to hear such great reviews from the states....too bad about the bogus changes to the body. WTF is wrong with the existing shape!

    The shape

..agreed H22A. Pontiac seem very much stuck on the twin grille...not unlike BMW with their twin kidneys. But I think there comes a time when you need to move on...it just doesn't suit all designs. The VE front end is much cleaner and should have been retained IMHO.

at some angles i don't mind the front end, colour helps... but it still seems incongruous...plus the wheel choice.
nice to see the positive reviews, hopefully the market feels the same way

There was a small but enthusiastic movement among GTO owners to convert Monaro kits onto their cars, I wonder if this trend will catch on with the G8.
Horsepower wins races. Torque pulls trailers.

presumably, if only to be able to fit standard bonnets, looks like the grille makes a straight swap of the non-nostril item difficult

the thing that impresses me is that the g8 is actually faster than the gto. both did 0-60 in 5 flat but the gto was always around 14.1 in the 1/4 mile which made ls1 camaro owners happy because ls1 camaro's do it in 13.8 but alas, it seems as though the 4 door g8 can beat us finally :^(

    time to start modding haha

Except tow 2 tone boats and hold 5 fat guys and fit 4 body's in the boot.
And you would maybe struggle getting 22" rims on the Evo.
And being the Auto G8 the 6 speed manual is a fraction faster.

To ****en right!.. What the **** is a Ossea?.

I giggle at how they take something and pretty much talk like it's there own little creation and the pain and suffering blood sweet and tears they put into it.,
Instead they should talk more Holden and what they told them they did, Not what Holden told them they did to pass that on to the world like they did it themselves.
This is maybe one good reason why i ignore the GM side of Holden.

Interesting with the 3.6lt V6, That comment on throaty intake rumble.. This is what people hate about it?.

You must be at a really high altitude. I normally see stock LS1 fbodies running mid to low 13s at 104-108mph, and LS1 GTOs running mid to high 13s at around the same trap speeds.

i was just going by what the magazines say, not by what ive seen at the track since ive never seen a g8 at the track.
