In 2004, Automobili Lamborghini will achieve yet another goal in its market penetration strategy by making its debut on the important Chinese market, and will create important opportunities for development and further success of its trade mark.
Founded in 1963, by Ferruccio Lamborghini, and owned by Audi since 1998, Automobili Lamborghini is based in Sant’Agata Bolognese, Bologna, Italy, and has over 700 employees.
Lamborghini is currently producing two powerful supercars, the 6.2-litre V12 Murciélago and the 5.0-litre V10 Gallardo, both equipped with four-wheel drive, and both being shown at Auto China 2004.
A third model, the Murciélago Roadster, was unveiled at the last Motor Show in Geneva and will be on sale at the end of 2004.
The worldwide success achieved by the Murciélago and the Gallardo has had a strong impact in 2003 when Automobili Lamborghini reached an important sales record.
In fact, last year, for the first time in its history, the House of the Bull delivered 1,305 cars all over the world and, in particular, 415 Murciélagos and a staggering 890 Gallardos, in its first year of marketing, with a turnover of €200 million, up from €93 million the previous year.
Today, Lamborghini’s sales network lists 57 showrooms in over 20 countries worldwide, from Europe to the USA, to the Middle East and the Asia-Pacific area.
Following the experience gained in other countries, Automobili Lamborghini has decided to create a distribution network in China as well, in order to act as a support for all its activities in the Chinese market. It is a structure that, as in Japan, will take advantage of the vast experience and prestige that the local Audi/Volkswagen importer has in the Chinese market.
Naturally, the sales network will also be carefully nurtured in China, starting with the recent appointment of the first official dealer, Lamborghini Beijing, which will officially begin its activities at Auto China 2004 this week, and be followed by a further two during the course of the year in Shanghai and Guangzhou.
The opening of the Beijing Motor Show was chosen by Automobili Lamborghini to mark the start of the commercialisation of its models on the important Chinese market. In 2004, Automobili Lamborghini counts on selling at least 20 Murciélago and Gallardo vehicles in China.
