Honda Accord Coupe Concept to Debut at North American International Auto Show

12/05/2006 -- A bold new look for the next-generation Honda Accord Coupe will be unveiled at the January 2007 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) in Detroit, American Honda Motor Co., Inc., announced today.
The Accord Coupe Concept will convey exterior styling cues and design features that provide a first look at the direction the next-generation Accord will take and it promises to set a new benchmark for Accord and for the segment. The Accord is Honda's best selling model in North America, and this vehicle's debut at NAIAS will mark the first time an Accord concept car has ever been shown at a major auto show.

Car and Driver magazine recently named the current-generation 2007 Honda Accord as one of the winners of its prestigious and highly competitive annual "10Best Cars" award. The Accord has achieved "10Best" status 21 times in the 25 years that Car and Driver editors have been conducting the competition, more than any other vehicle in the award's history.

That's an interesting look for an Accord. It doesn't look like it has FF anymore. It looks like it needs FR now. How are they going to pull this off? Honda's getting real weird now.

True, but usually they show future trends. Weird concepts lately from Honda. However, this one actually looks good.

That's supposed to be the Accord coupe. With a shape like that it looks like its going straight into battle with the AMV8 and 911.

if they can make a shape that says we are battling the amv8 and 911, but then sell it for 25k, and slate it against the altima coupe, then it will likely be extremely successful.

before i bought my mini in 04, i drove the then current model accord coupe, and it drove exactly the same as my 93 accord. not bad, but also not interesting. gotta love honda for consistency.

Yes, but what's the point of a car with performance that doesn't match the 911 but has the looks of it? It'd be the same as a ricer. I think it looks stunning. Maybe they had a typo and confused it for the next NSX.

LOL, if they turned the NSX from a mid engined, 2seater track car into a front engined coupe, Honda would be shunned.

well, what about the s2000, not super fast, but it is a valid sports car thats is rather sexy. then look at the integra/rsx, another fairly fast but sexy car, and the last few accord coupes have been the same. they have massively advanced their styling with each generation of accord and civic. the advance of styling from the last civic to the current will likely be matched in this update of the accord. its not the look of a 911 but without the performance, it is a bold new look for honda, with tolerable performance, and bulletproof reliability. a massive recipe for success.

Then Honda wouldn't be very far from destruction.

The link is all speculation about the next NSX. There's also a very sexy rendering. Very Audi R8-like. I don't know. The purists will balk at an FR NSX replacement, but maybe they'll make two sports cars on the same platform, an MR and an FR (I'm hoping for that ) to expand the lineup even further.

    That NSX is pretty sweet...
It resembles the new Accord, does Honda have a thing going on with the shape of their cars?
