For customs reasons, the car was renumbered 1965GT after yet another Swaters owned SWB, which had been destroyed in a crash in Angola. This car's engine was also used in 1965GT. Along with a California Spyder, Swaters sold chassis 2445GT to American actor James Coburn in 1964. Passing through various American hands, the Drogo bodied 250 GT SWB was eventually acquired by Dutch collector Pieter Boel in 1987.

Boel submitted the car to a complete restoration during the 1990s and gradually discovered the car's origins; most importantly that it was in fact 2445GT and not 1965GT. When this became clear, Boel sold the engine stamped with 1965GT and tried to track down the correct engine. The work progressed at a very slow rate but eventually received new impetus when the car was acquired by fellow Dutchmen Hans Hugenholtz and David Hart in 2009. They pressed on with the work and commissioned the construction of a replacement V12 by engine expert Piet Roelofs. The 250 GT SWB Drogo Coupe was finally restored to its former glory in 2010.

It has since been regularly raced in many major events by Hugenholtz and Hart, successfully participating in several editions of the Goodwood Revival and also taking outright wins in Trofeo Nastro Rosso races. As the sister car was crashed beyond repair in period, this is the only remaining 250 GT SWB Drogo of the pair originally commissioned by Jacques Swaters.
