Menu started the season well with a second place finish in the first of two heats of the opening round at Donington. Unfortunately, he did not manage to follow that up with a victory until the feature race at round 10 at Knockhill. He ended the season 11th in the driver's table with Reid right behind in 12th. Even more disappointing was Ford's sixth in the manufacturer's standing out of six teams.
In a final attempt to achieve success, Ford raised the budget to a rumoured GBP 12 million and added Rickard Rydell to the driver line-up. Following the withdrawal of three of the works teams, Ford faced only Honda and Vauxhall. The perseverance finally paid off as Menu, Reid and Rydell finished 1st, 2nd and 3rd in the championship, between them winning 11 of the 24 rounds. Needless to say, Ford also clinched the manufacturer's championship.
Drastic rule changes ended the Super Touring era at the end of the 2000 season. Their objectives achieved, Ford and Prodrive parted ways and neither returned to the BTCC to defend the championships they had fought so hard to win. << Prev Page 2 of 2
